[WoW-IRL] Whelmed to Overwhelmed

So World of Warcraft: Legion has been out for two months (or eight weeks, to be exact) and I have not done a single update to my blog site or my YouTube channel since.

At first, I thought I would be able to still keep up with "current events" while actively playing the new expansion, and was simply "whelmed" when I hit level cap on my first toon (my warrior of course). After that, it quickly got worse.. Knocking out as many world quests as possible on her was fun, still is honestly, but then I started the progress on my second toon, my paladin. After hitting level cap on her, things got even worse and it became almost impossible to gear them both and keep up on knocking out world quests. I get the world emissary quests done everyday, so I'm still at it.

And then the third level capped character happened and it all went to hell. I don't even have time to gather order hall resources on my mage, let alone knock out any world quests on her. I have to pick and choose what activities I'm going to finish each day instead of hustling through it like I did in Warlords of Draenor, where my limited gametime before work was usually spent knocking out all on my garrison stuff. Then using my time after work to do anything and everything else that could be done without being in an active raiding guild.

With Legion, there is just so much.. It quickly went from whelming to outrageously overwhelming.

THIS ISN'T A BAD THING. IN A SENSE.

What this means though.. Is that I'm going to focus on the game and my streaming instead of my blog. My current plan is to ride out the rest of this year, while actively working on the guides for 2017. That way when the events hit, it's a quick fix-up to add in new content that's been datamined and officially being added to the game and we can get right back to the game itself.

What this also means is that there is going to be a mighty long lull in updates that are WoW related on the blog. I'm still under the mindset that I can convert this blog into more of a gaming related blog instead of focusing entirely on World of Warcraft and while I have a copious amount of drafts for other games in my post-list, none of them are anywhere near complete, so the going isn't going.

We shall see. I -am- back to streaming though. Almost nightly, but rarely ever WoW. I doubt people want to tune in to a stream of me knocking out world quests and farming old raids on a daily basis, when they could be watching someone else running Mythic, Mythic+, and actual raids. I don't have the people in numbers to make any of that content happen without jumping into some random PUG that probably won't end well.

I am still currently working on a video to explain how awesome Legion is, I have enough footage to complete the video, I just haven't gotten down to actually recording the narrative audio that's going to lay on top of said footage.

But it's okay.. Because we'll see you all in 2017. Where we're going to be back up and running fulltime without missing a beat.

[WoW] Pirate's Day '16

Pirate's Day was originally introduced into the game back in 2008, to commemorate the International Talk Like A Pirate Day, or ITLAPD. This Holiday always lands on September 19th, as that's the official date for the real life "holiday."

The Holiday itself is very short and sweet. It only lasts 24 hours and it only has one achievement. As of 2016, there is a little bit more to do since its inception. Since there is so little to do for this Holiday, I'm also going to fill this guide with other trivial information so that it lasts longer than just a couple paragraphs.

First off, no, I'm not going to type this guide up in Pirate-ese. That's not happening. I do not celebrate this parody holiday, so I'm not going to participate, even with the written word. Now that that's out of the way...

Your one and only destination for this Holiday is quite obvious.. We're going to Booty Bay!
When you enter Booty Bay, point yourself toward the building housing the bank and land on the roof. If you don't have the ability to fly, head in to the inn and follow the multitude of staircases that lead you up to the Horde flightmaster, then to the roof above the bank. During Pirate's Day, the roof will be covered in Dread Crew who will be launching fireworks, but they are not your target. You're looking for Dread Captain DeMeza, the Scourge of the South Seas.

When you speak with DeMeza, you have the option to drink with her. Once selected, you will receive the Dread Corsair buff and be transformed into a pirate. This buff persists through death, mounting up, and while logged out, but it does not persist through shape shifting (With the recent change in how shape shifting works, this might no longer be the case, but I did not test this out with a druid.) If you lose the buff at any time, you can just talk to the commoners in any capital city for a 1 hour replacement. No need to head all the way back to Booty Bay to drink with DeMeza, but why not?

Before we get into the new stuff, we're going to do that trivial information bit I mentioned above. There are three other named NPCs nearby. Let's talk about them..

First Mate Hapana is DeMeza's first mate, as his name suggests, with his assault parrot, Nyuni. He can be interacted with, but he only shoos you away to talk to DeMeza, so he's not very social. He offers no other dialogue options or buffs. An interesting thing to note is that he apparently has a tattoo on one arm with the word "MAGATHA" in a heart. Hapana Grimtotem? A past love of Magatha Grimtotem? The world will never know...

Cap'n Slappy is the in-game representation of one of the men behind the ITLAPD, Mark Summers. The date of ITLAPD was picked so that Summers could easily remember the date, which was his ex-wife's birthday. He informs you of how he and Chumbucket created the Holiday, but DeMeza took off with it.

Ol' Chumbucket is the in-game representation of the other man behind ITLAPD, John Baur. Baur has appeared on the television show Wife Swap, as well as an episode of Jeopardy!. He tells you that today belongs to DeMeza and her crew and looking like a pirate is only half the celebration, talking like one is the other half.

-NEW- 2016 introduces an actual quest for Pirate's Day:

-NEW- Another new item available 2016 is the Slightly-Chewed Insult Book. A giant shark named Ol' Eary will spawn, roughly, every thirty minutes out by where the boat travels to Ratchet. Dread Captain DeMeza announces his arrival with a yell, "Yarrrrr! Thar be Ol' Eary, terror of the open seas! Now's our chance boys, git 'em!" The Toy itself is a reference to the Monkey Island series.

Dread Captain DeMeza is the only vendor available for this Holiday and she offers only a few things:

After finishing off that quest, taking out a giant shark, and partying down with the Dread Crew, just make sure that you don't forget to pick up the only achievement currently available for this Holiday.

The Captain's Booty: Head down to booty Bay and share a drink with Dread Captain DeMeza during the Pirate's Day celebration.

[WoW] Post-Midsummer Fire Festival '16

Failed to pick up the pet again this year from the festival vendors, but it's okay, because I have spent quite a lot of time on just leveling up the pets I currently have. I will get the pet from the Holiday sooner or later, but for now it's okay that I didn't get him.

[WoW] Midsummer Fire Festival '16

The Midsummer Fire Festival starts on the real world date of the Northern Summer Solstice and also pertains to St. John's Day. This year the in-game event runs from June 21st through July 5th. With Legion so close to being released, nothing new has been added to this year's version of the Holiday. With the launch of Legion, I'm sure we are going to get be receiving more content for this Holiday next year, but for now.. We're looking at only the most recent additions from 2015 as the "new and exciting" collectible rewards.

Side note: Looking for some new customized artwork if any artists are interested.

Much Like the Lunar Festival back in January, the Midsummer Fire Festival necessitates tons of travel time to get through all of the achievements, as you travel around the multiple continents to honor your faction's fires and desecrate those of the opposite faction. All the while gaining Burning Blossom, which is this Holiday's currency.

The Burning Blossom also have a secondary function that we should go over here before we really get into anything else, since you're going to have a ton of them by the end of your adventure. Especially if you run this Holiday on multiple characters. If you use a Burning Blossom near a festival fire, all surrounding players will gain the Fire Festival Fury buff, which scales with your level. And if you happen upon a bonfire that's been desecrated and use a Burning Blossom on it, you will activate the zone-wide buff of Bonfire's Blessing, which scales the damage by ten per level.

The Midsummer Fire Festival also comes with a Holiday boss; The Frost Lord, Ahune. Since the next expansion isn't out yet, Ahune is still for level 100. No buffs for the loot table this time around. He also has a handful of other drops that we'll get into when we get to the boss fight section of the guide. Until then, we're going to start with the holiday quests!

There are some bread crumb quests that will lead you to some of the festival camps outside of the capital cities, as well as bread crumbs that lead to camps located inside the capitals. We'll start off with the quests located outside of the cities.

  1. The Master of Summer Lore/The Spinner of Summer Tales: The true bread crumb quest. All capital cities will have commoners who will send you on your way to the Fire Festival Camps outside of the capital cities. These quests are mostly for flavor to announce the beginning of the Festival, but you get a Burning Blossom for knocking it out.
  2. Incense for the Summer Scorchlings/Incense for the Festival Scorchlings: You will be given some Summer Incense and told to drop it off at the nearby Summer Scorchling. Be sure to stick around for a bit after turning it in and collecting your Burning Blossom. There is small scene involving the Scorchling.
    • Now that you're done with the quests at the Festival Camps outside of the city, it's time to speed on inside of the capital city itself an head to the Festival Bonfire:
      • Stormwind: To left of Stormwind Stockades and past the cooking daily.
      • Ironforge: At the entrance of the Hall of Explorers.
      • Darnassus: Inside the Warrior's Terrace on the way inside from Teldrassil.
      • Exodar: On the right side of the Crystal Halls.
      • Orgrimmar: Up past the flight master on the Valley of Wisdom.
      • Thunder Bluff: On the edge of the Spirit Rise, near the zeppelin dock.
      • Undercity: Just inside the Ruins if Lordaeron.
      • Silvermoon City: Inside the Court of the Sun, near the fountain before the Sunfury Spire.
  1. Torch Tossing/Torch Tossing: The Master Fire Eater/Master Flame Eater of your respective faction will offer up this quest near the bonfire. You will need to use the Practice Torches and throw them at the target brazier nearby. It is very simple and you don't always have to land the torch directly on the brazier, either, which makes it slightly easier for those with slower reaction times.
  2. Torch Catching/Torch Catching: The Master Fire Eater/Master Flame Eater of your respective faction will also offer up this quest. You will need to throw one of the Unlit Torches and follow its shadow to to catch it and throw it again. This quest, and subsequent daily, can be very irritating due to other people, lag, or having some of your graphic settings on lower values. Adjust accordingly and even switch cities if necessary to complete. Knocking out this quest will open up its daily, as well as reward you with five Juggling Torch which will come in handy later.
With the little quests knocked out of the way and the dailies unlocked, it's time to complete the other daily, as well as delve into the holiday boss fight information. First off, since you're still in your capital city near a bonfire, I think it's time to mention the ribbon pole. At every bonfire, you will find the ribbon pole, which your character will twirl around. Doing so grants you the Ribbon Dance buff, which stacks every 3 seconds to a total of a one hour buff. This buff stacks with rested experience and heirloom bonuses as well.

Now it's time to speak to the Earthen Ring Elder! (If you're tracking Low Level Quests, you'll see this bad boy, if you aren't tracking it.. Well.. Surprise?!)
  1. Unusual Activity: Pick up your Totemic Beacon from the Elder and head out for Ashenvale. You're going to head up to the Zoram Strand, in the very north-western corner of Ashenvale Your mission is to kill the Twilight Cultists until you get your hands on the Twilight Correspondence. With it in hand, use the Totemic Beacon to summon the Earthen Ring Guide, who will continue your quest.
  2. An Innocent Disguise: Use the given Orb of the Crawler to spy on Ice Caller Briatha and company, on the banks of the Zoram Strand, further along than where you killed cultists for the correspondence.
  3. Inform the Elder
With all of those quests finished, it's time to throw down against the holiday boss; The Frost Lord, Ahune. Before we go any further, please note that you need to be level 100 to even access this boss. Blizzard has confirmed that all Holiday event bosses will be max level content only. You can either queue through the LFD UI by selecting Frost Lord Ahune in the drop-down menu option, or you can speak with any Earthen Ring Elder to be queued up as well. Making a trip out to the Slave Pens will not spawn the boss.
  1. Emerged Phase (Phase 1): When delaing with this stage (hopefully not too many times), you are not abnle to directly assault Ahune. You have to deal with his adds and dodge the ice spikes. He spawns three adds each submerged phase, two of which constantly spawn.
    • Ahune
      • Ahune's Shield: This cannot be broken through by any means by the player.
      • Cold Slap: When a player gets too close to Ahune, he will use this ability, launching them back away from him, dealing damage and fall damage. Stay off the ice and you should be fine, his hit box is larger enough. Amusingly, you will receive a Snowball in your bags every time you get hit by this ability.
      • Ice Spear: Ahune will cast this under the feet of a random player. If they don't move in time, they will get launched into the air and sustain fall damage, unless they prevent that damage through abilities.
    • Ahunite Hailstone - Focus this add.
      • Chilling Aura: This ability can cause upwards of 60% of the total damage done for the fight. These adds need to be focused immediately once the tank has aggro.
      • Pulverize: As long as the tank has aggro, this ability should not be an issue.
    • Ahunite Coldwave - Requires little attention.
      • Bitter Blast: Let the tank get aggro to avoid taking damage from this, or simply burn them as soon as they spawn.
    • Ahunite Frostwind - Requires little attention.
      • Lightning Shield: Works the same way as a Shaman's own ability. Let the tank take the hits to avoid taking extra damage, or burn it down as soon as it spawns.
      • Wind Buffet: One of the most annoying spells in existence for anyone with a cast bar.
  2. Core Phase (Phase 2)
    • Frozen Core - Ahune submerges into this state.
      • Ahune's Shield fades, Cold Slap and Ice Spear are disabled, and there are no adds that spawn. Ignore the ones that are up, if there are any, when he submerges. Blow your cooldowns and burn him. If you don't strike him down in one attempt, he will re-emerged after 30 seconds and you will have to repeat Phase 1.
  3. Ice Chest (Loot Phase)
    1. Shards of Ahune: You get to pick between one of the two available tabards.
      • Tabard of Summer Skies
      • Tabard of Summer Flames
      • If you wish to acquire both tabards, there is a simple method in which to do so. Simply place the tabard of your choice into your Void Storage. Speak with a Tabard Vendor and select the opposite choice as the one you lost to have both.
  4. Satchel of Chilled Goods - Only available on your first kill per day.
Now that we've gone over the basic quests, the dailies, and tore apart Ahune and his minions, it's time to dig into the real meat of this holiday. Much like the Lunar Festival, the Midsummer Fire Festival requires quite a bit of traveling to make sure you get your hands on enough Burning Blossom to be able to purchase all the necessities to complete all of the achievements and get the vanity item. Your job is to traverse the Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Northrend, Outlands, and Pandaria to honor and desecrate the bonfires.

There are a total of 110 Bonfires to locate and collect and honor/desecrate. Please note that most of these are not in any order for fastest completion or ease of travel.

And we end as we normally do, with a brief rundown of the pets that are available during the Midsummer First Festival.

Post-Children's Week '16

The Overwatch open beta was running during the entire length of Children's Week so I didn't really set aside any time to get anything new done during the event from any of the previous days. There's some hints that Children's Week will get some sort of updates in Legion because of lore updates to some of the characters and locations, so we shall see how that turns out.

Children's Week '16

I have always had the worst luck in putting out the guide for Children's Week for one reason or another. It just always seems to fall when other things are happening, whether it be personal real life reasons or there are other video game launches happening at the same time. The last time this guide went up was in 2013. I don't know why 2014 didn't happen, but last year we were moving and this year was the last open beta for Overwatch. With this guide finished though, maybe next year it'll be on time..

Children's Week, much like Noblegarden, has not received a significant update since 2011 when they reworked the Azerothian quests with the launch of Cataclysm. In 2015, it did receive two new Toys to be collected. Good news for the future is that there should be some changes to this Holiday after the launch of Legion due to lore updates for some characters. We shall see though. Children's Week is based off of the Japanese holiday Children's Day which takes place on May 5th. Children's Week runs from May 2nd through May 9th.

Side note: Looking for some new customized artwork if any artists are interested.

Children's Week, or Week of the Wardens, is an entirely quest-based Holiday where you take an orphan around the world with you to various locations while being an attentive, and sometimes not so attentive, role model for the young child's mind. For Alliance, you pick up a human boy named Randis for the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor sections of the world, a young Draenei named Dornaa for the Outlands bit, and then your choice of Roo the Wolvar orphan or Kekek the Oracle orphan for an adventure in Northrend. For the Horde, Grunth the orc boy will follow you around Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, Salandria the blood elf girl for a  saunter through the Outlands, and then again your choice of Roo the Wolvar orphan or Kekek the Oracle orphan for a trip through Northrend. All three whistles can be obtained at the same time to accrue the quests at once, but since they are all at different locations, it is not anymore efficient.

Sticking with routine, we are going to start with the Alliance orphans first, then the Horde, then top it off with the Northrend neutral orphans after both specific factions are done. You have to be at least level 10 to accept the Azerothian whistle, but you won't be able to do much else, or complete the achievements if you're not over level 60.

Head over to Stormwind City and into the Cathedral District to meet up with Orphan Matron Nightingale to complete the opening quest Children's Week to get your Human Orphan Whistle to summon Randis. Randis is now the shot-caller with the quests on what he wants to do while out-and-about with you.
  1. Cruisin' the Chasm
    • Head on over to Sentinel Hell in Westfall. Randis wants you to rent one of those newfangled choppers so that he can cruise around Westfall and see all the damage that Deathwing caused with the Cataclysm. Speak with Twilber Torquewrench to rent the chopper, the rest is out of your hands, you monster.
  2. Malfurion Has Returned!
    • Since you're in Westfall, head back to Stormwind and take the boat at the harbor to Darnassus. Randis wants to meet Malfurion Stormrage in the Temple of the Moon there. Malfurion grants Randis a temporary set of wings to fly around the Temple.
  3. The Biggest Diamond Ever!
    • Make your way back to Stormwind using the same boat you used to get to Darnassus and head through the Deeprun Tram for a quick trip over to Ironforge. Randis wants to see what old King Magni Bronzebeard is up to these days. Head to the Hall of Thanes and head through the old iron doors to Old Ironforge. At the end of the very long ramp, you'll see the crystallized King.
  4. You Scream, I Scream...
    • Back in Stormwind, after another quick jaunt through the Deeprun Tram, you need to head over to the Mage District where the frost magi Hans Coldhearth and Bazzil Frostweaver have set up a sweet shop to sell ice cream. Randis wants a frosty treat, so pick him up an aptly named Cone of Cold and share it with him.
  5. Let's Go Fly a Kite
    • As a finale, Randis wants to fly some kites around Stormwind with you. He's always wanted his own dragon, y'see. Craggle Wobbletop, who winds his way around the canal surrounding the Trade District, sells a Dragon Kite 2-Pack so you and Randis can both fly dragon kites around.
  6. A Warden of the Alliance
Once you're finished up with Randis, it's time to head out to Outlands. Your destination is Shattrath City, where you'll need to speak with Orphan Matron Mercy. Complete another Children's Week to receive the Draenei Orphan Whistle to summon Dornaa. Just like Randis, Dornaa is now going to tell you exactly what she wants to do while under your care.
  1. Auchindoun and the Ring of Observance
    • Head out of Shattrath and down to the ruins of Auchindoun in Terokkar Forest. Dornaa wants your help in using the Summoning Stone. Assisting her with summon forth an Alliance Adventurer.
  2. Jheel is at Aeris Landing!
    • Now that Dornaa can go anywhere under your care, she wants to head over to Nagrand to visit her brother Jheel, who works at Aeris Landing under the tutelage of Gezhe.
  3. A Trip to the Dark Portal
    • Dornaa wants to see the portal that leads back to Azeroth. Since the release of Warlords of Draenor, this is a little bit more complicated due to how the portal works on the Azeroth side, but you can just fly straight there from Nagrand for the correct effect.
  4. The Seat of the Naaru
    • Dornaa now wants to meet the Naaru sitting at the Seat of the Naaru in the Exodar. The quickest way to get there is from the Exodar portal in Darnassus or take the portal to Mount Hyjal in Stormwind and then fly there. O'ros also gives you a follow-up quest to go speak with Farseer Nobundo.
      • Call on the Farseer
        • O'ros senses something special in Dornaa and wants Farseer Nobundo to meet with her. After a quick test, Nobundo is in awe of the elemental mastery Dornaa has with zero training. She just might have a bright future ahead of her.
  5. Time to Visit the Caverns
    • After hearing stories about the Caverns of Time from an old priest, Dornaa wants to go have a look see for herself. If you're Revered with the Keepers of Time, you can use a free portal in Shattrath city from Zephyr, or you can use the portal in Dalaran, if both of those options are out.. You could always fly? Once you're there, speak with Alurmi to pick up a Toy Dragon and then have a gander at Zaladormu, who will stop his guards from assaulting her for things that may or may not come to pass in the future. Maybe that future isn't so bright after all...
  6. Back to the Orphanage
Now for all of you Horde players out there, it's time to gather up your orphans and start your jaunt across the lands with a pair of parent less children. Like the Alliance set, we're going to start off with the Azerothian orphan, Grunth. Head to Orgrimmar and speak with Orphan Matron Battlewall to complete Children's Week and pick  up your Orcish Orphan Whistle.
  1. Ridin' the Rocketway
    • Hearing that the newest faction to join the Horde were goblins, Grunth has it in his head that he wants to go check out their rockets. Head on over to Azshara and stop in at the Secret Lab to hop on their new two-seater prototype rocket and enjoy the bumpy ride.
  2. The Banshee Queen
    • Grunth now wants to meet a highly influential member of the Horde society. His target? Lady Sylvanas Windrunner. Take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Brill and stop in at the Ruins of Lordaeron and pop in for a visit with The Dark Lady herself.
  3. The Fallen Chieftain
    • Take the zeppelin in Brill back to Orgrimmar and then make your way over to Thunder Bluff, either through the flight path, flying, or using the zeppelin. Grunth wants to visit the funeral pyre for Cairne Bloodhoof, the deceased former chieftain of the Tauren, out at the Red Rocks in Mulgore.
  4. You Scream, I Scream...
    • Make a return trip to Orgrimmar as your journey with Grunth is coming to an end. Stop in with Snixx Quickfreeze in the Goblin Slums and pick up a Cone of Cold to share a frosty treat with Grunth.
  5. Let's Go Fly a Kite
    • Grunth remember seeing a goblin pushing around a cart of toys and gizmos over near the orphanage and wants to pick up some kites so you can fly them around together. Find Blax Bottlerocket walk the path near the entrance to the Drag and pick up the Dragon Kite 2-Pack to share with Grunth.
  6. A Warden of the Horde
Once you're finished up with Grunth, it's time to head out to Outlands. Your destination is Shattrath City, where you'll need to speak with Orphan Matron Mercy. Complete another Children's Week to receive the Blood Elf Orphan Whistle to summon Salandria. Just like Grunth, Salandria is now going to tell you exactly what she wants to do while under your care.
  1. Hch'uu and the Mushroom People
    • Hch'uu was another orphan who had gotten lost in Zangarmarsh and brought to the orphanage in Shattrath City. After making friends with Salandria, her family eventually came to get her and take her home. We're gonna go see her so we can catch up.
  2. Visit the Throne of the Elements
    • Salandria thinks of herself as a future mage or warlock, so she wants to see the elemental forces in action. Head into Nagrand and stop in at the Throne of the Elements to speak with Elementalist Sharvak.
  3. A Trip to the Dark Portal
    • Salandria wants to see the Dark Portal up close because of all the scary stories, that she doesn't believe. Since the release of Warlords of Draenor, this is a little bit more complicated due to how the portal works on the Azeroth side, but you can just fly straight there from Nagrand for the correct effect.
  4. Now, When I Grow Up...
    • The original quest for this bit was to talk to M'uru, the Naaru that was eventually carted out of Silvermoon City into Sunwell Plateau. Has since been replaced with Salandria wanting to go meet the Elite Tauren Chieftain in Silvermoon City instead, and decides that her future as a rock star awaits.
  5. Time to Visit the Caverns
    • After hearing stories about the Caverns of Time from an old, stinky priest, Salandria wants to go have a look see for herself. Maybe that rock star future isn't the path she takes..
  6. Back to the Orphanage
With both the Alliance and Horde quests out of the way for both Azeroth and Outlands, it's time to move on to Northrend (yes, technically still part of Azeroth, get out of my face) and work on a pair of pets that don't require any sort of faction biased. Head up to Dalaran in Crystalsong Forest and speak with Orphan Matron Aria. You get to choose between Little Orphan Roo Of The Oracles or Little Orphan Kekek Of The Wolvar, the quest you choose decides on which pet you're going to get at the end.
  1. Little Orphan Roo Of The Oracles - Oracle Orphan Whistle
    1. The Biggest Tree Ever!
      • Roo wants to see the the biggest tree ever. According to High-Oracle Soo-say, that is the downed tree now called Grizzlemaw in Grizzle Hills.. err.. Grizzly Hills. Head there and drop down inside the broken insides of the tree. You might have to fight some furbolgs on the way down, level depending, but you'll make it.
    2. The Bronze Dragonshire
      • High-Oracle Soo-say told Roo about the the latent energies surrounding the Bronze Dragonshire. Make your way to Dragonblight and stop in there so that Roo can see a little bit of his potential future.
    3. Playmates!
      • Roo is lonely in the orphanage and wants to have the chance to make some new friends. Make your way over to Borean Tundra and stop in at the Winterfin Retreat on the northern beaches and let Roo make friends with the murloc hatchlings there.
    4. Meeting a Great One
      • If you've done the quests in Sholazar Basin then you know about the waygate to Un'Goro Crater that's located there. If you haven't done those quests, the waygate will still work (but only because you're doing this particular quest). Take the waygate to Un'Goro Crater and let Roo meet The Etymidian.
    5. The Dragon Queen
      • Go back through the waygate and make your way back to the Dragonblight. You're going to be stopping in at the Wyrmrest Temple this time instead of a singular dragonflight's shrine. Roo wants to meet Alexstrasza the Life-Binder.
    6. A Trip To The Wonderworks
    7. Back To The Orphanage
    8. Back To The Orphanage
      • If you've already completed the original version of this quest just above here, then you are going to end with a different version of the quest for a different set of rewards. The quest still ends the same way, you're just not given the option of the pet as a reward. Instead..
  2. Little Orphan Kekek Of The Wolvar - Wolvar Orphan Whistle
    1. Home Of The Bear-Men
      • High Shaman Rakjak loves to tell stories about mighty warriors. One of these stories involves the furbolgs of Grizzlemaw in Grizzly Hills. Kekek wants to see these mighty warriors in all of their glory.
    2. The Bronze Dragonshire
      • The Elders of the Frenzyheart tribe used to tell stories of a shrine in a far off land inhabited by the Bronze Dragonflight. A place where you can learn about your potential future. Kekek wants to see what's in store for himself.
    3. Playmates!
      • While you're also in Dragonblight, make a quick stop off at the Snowfall Glade. Kekek knows of the Wolvar tribe here and wishes to play with the pups there, maybe even play in the snow.
    4. The Dragon Queen
      • Kekek likes dragons. Most kids like dragons. He wants to meet the queen of all the dragons. Head over to Wyrmrest Temple, since we're still in Dragonblight, and let Kekek meet Alexstrasza the Life-Binder.
    5. The Mighty Hemet Nesingwary
      • Even the pups of the Frenzyheart Tribe know of the mightiest hunter of the lands. Elder Harkek has been telling stories about Hemet Nesingwary, whose camp just so happens to be in the Sholazar Basin, just like the Frenzyheart tribelands.
    6. A Visit To The Wonderworks
    7. Back To The Orphanage
    8. Back To The Orphanage
      • If you've already completed the original version of this quest just above here, then you are going to end with a different version of the quest for a different set of rewards. The quest still ends the same way, you're just not given the option of the pet as a reward. Instead..
Before we get to the last two most important bits of these holiday guides, we need to make one more quick stop in at our friendly, neighborhood toy shop keeps in Stormwind City and Orgrimmar. As you might have seen while buying toys for the children, Craggle Wobbletop and Blax Bottlerocket also sells some Toys. Not toys, but Toys. Two of which can only be purchased during Children's Week.
With all your orphans back at their orphanages and all of your fancy new pets set up inside of the pages of your Battle Pet collection, it's time to start doing the achievements for this Holiday. You will gain the title of 'Matron/Patron' for completing For the Children.
  • Home Alone : Is your orphan currently staring at you with wondrous eyes of wonder? Use your Hearthstone. Congratulations, you're an awful person. But you got an achievement. There were some issues with hearthstone-like items not giving credit for this quest, but hotfixes were pushed. To guarantee credit, just use your Hearthstone.
  • Daily Chores : Make sure your orphan is with you while completing a set of five daily quests. This will be a little bit more difficult with Warlords of Draenor content, but you can do this on any land in any zone, so just find a set of old dailies that you haven't done in forever and knock out a set of five.
  • Bad Example : Your orphan probably doesn't get their hands on a whole lot of sweets or delicacies. So, of course, to keep in line with the rest of the achievements you need to do for this Holiday, you're going to be a complete dick and eat a bunch of cake and ice cream in front of them.
  • Hail To The King, Baby : This achievement does require a level of at least level 80 to be able to complete. Just make sure you have your orphan out and head over to the Howling Fjord in Northrend and enter Utgarde Pinnacle. Kill King Ymiron with your orphan watching. Show him the casualties of war. What happened to his parents, probably. God, you're a terrible person.
  • Aw, Isn't It Cute? : Complete any string of orphan quests from any of the available choices and receive your pet reward at the end. It's an achievement for getting a pet! It's win/win!
  • School of Hard Knocks : This is where you're going to spending a good chunk of your achievement hunting time. This is one of those "awesome" PvP achievements stuffed into PvE events that Blizzard likes to integrate into Holidays to make you experience both kinds of content. Just make sure you have your orphan out as you do these four things:
  • Veteran Nanny : This is the only achievement that is not part of the meta achievement. You need to collect all three available pets from the Shattrath City orphan quests. So yes.. Three years.
You have now completed the achievement set for Children's Week. If you did everything, you just got a ton of new battle pets to mess around with, especially if you did everything on multiple toons. Or you just took the payoffs. Asshole.
And that's it for Children's Week. This guide is late, obviously, but it's the stepping stone for next year's guide, which again has the potential to finally be updated due to some changes to characters that is coming. We shall see!
